Baglung. The Mid-Hill Highway has been obstructed due to heavy floods. The Burtibang-East Rukum section has been completely obstructed due to flooding in Kalapairrikhola of Nisikhola rural municipality-4 in Baglung district, a national pride project, along the Mid-Hill Highway.

The floods occurred on Sunday night due to rain throughout the day. Nisikhola-4 ward chair Tikanidhi Poudel said the obstructed highway has not been resumed yet. Vehicular movement from Rukum (east) to Kathmandu and Pokhara has come to a grinding halt due to obstruction of the highway.

According to Poudel, small vehicles from Burtibang to East Rukum and Rolpa via Nisi, Bhalkot have been stopped at Kanabagar. He said that efforts are being made to open the road in collaboration with the Highway.

Landslides and falling of trees at different places along the highway due to incessant rainfall have obstructed the highway, Poudel said. Poudel said that vehicular movement could not be operated as the mud falls from above and piles up on the road immediately after the rains.
