Kathmandu. A total of 3,681 incidents of natural disasters have been reported across the country since mid-April till now. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, 6,590 households have been affected by the floods.
During the period, 243 people lost their lives and 869 were injured. Similarly, 24 people have gone missing. According to the NRA, the highest number of incidents of fire have taken place in the past six months. A total of 1,295 fires have killed 23 people and injured 177. A total of 1,411 households have been affected in the fire.
Of the 263 incidents of floods, 29 people have died. As many as 1,861 families have been affected with 23 missing and 14 injured in the floods, according to the NRA. Similarly, 463 incidents of landslides have been reported during this period. In the incident, 24 people died and 41 were injured.
Similarly, 340 incidents of heavy rainfall have been reported during this period. Six people were killed and 14 were injured and 811 families were affected. A total of 290 lightning incidents were recorded during the period. At least 38 people were killed and 212 others injured in the incident. Similarly, 351 families have been affected.
There have been 304 cases of snakebite. As many as 77 people were killed and 233 others injured by snakebites. According to the NRA, two people have been injured and 27 families have been affected in 185 incidents of forest fires. Similarly, eight people were killed and 44 injured in 284 incidents in the storm. A total of 541 families have been affected by the storm.
There have been 217 incidents of animal attacks and 20 people have died. Similarly, 88 people were injured and 366 families were affected. According to the NRA, precautionary and awareness campaigns have been conducted to avoid disaster and the early warning system has been made more systematic.
