Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: A total of 189,218 passengers have left Kathmandu for the festival in the last five days. According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, a total of 189,218 passengers have left the Kathmandu Valley from September 15 to 29,360 in public transport.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Lokendra Singh Gurung said those who had come to the Kathmandu Valley from different parts of the country for study, business and employment have started going home for the Dashain festival. According to him, the passengers had gone to their destinations from Thankot, Sanga, Dakshinkali and Balaju border points.
According to the office, 34,556 passengers left Kathmandu Valley on October 18, 36,100 on September 18, 40,555 on September 18, 34,879 on October 19 and 43,124 on October 21.
This year, due to the poor condition of the road, there has been a problem in the movement of passengers. Dekanath Gautam, general secretary of Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs, said that the landslide occurred on the highway has affected the movement of vehicles.
“Buses have been stranded for hours due to landslide along the Mugling-Narayanghat road section, which has made it difficult to send passengers to their destinations as the buses have not arrived in Kathmandu on time,” Gautam said. He also urged the government to resume the obstructed highway on time.
Lately, the number of passengers going home during the Dashain festival has increased at the National Bus Park at Gongabu in Kathmandu. Pankaj Malla, head of human resources of Lhotse Multipurpose Pvt Ltd, which operates the new bus park, said that the number of passengers going home from the new bus park has increased compared to other times.TAG_OPEN_span_10 According to him, around 4,000 passengers used to leave the New Bus Park at other times but now the number has increased to over 15,000 per day.
