Kathmandu. The Ministry of Finance has written to the Ministry of Home Affairs and Defense to return the vehicles, security personnel and other perks provided to the retired former political and administrative officials.

Issuing a letter on Friday, the Ministry of Finance has urged the government to provide only the services and facilities mentioned in the prevailing laws and as per the approved criteria.

It has asked to return the vehicles, goods, helpers and security personnel provided except in accordance with the law. It has also written to the government to expedite the implementation of the suspension of other services÷facilities.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on September 20 had decided to cut down on unproductive expenditure and maintain austerity. Spokesperson of the Ministry of Finance, Tanka Prasad Pandey, said that a letter has been sent to provide services and facilities to the retired former political and administrative officials only as per the approved criteria mentioned in the prevailing law.
