Chitwan. The local administration has carried out monitoring and took action against the drivers and owners of vehicles charging high fare after receiving complaints from the passengers returning to the capital that they have been charging exorbitant fare. A team led by Chief District Officer (CDO) Ganesh Aryal carried out monitoring of the security agencies and took action against them.

A team comprising Chief District Officer Aryal, Superintendent of Police Govinda Puri and Chief of National Investigation Office Suresh Tiwari carried out checks at Pulchowk, Pokhara Bus Park and Anptari in Narayangadh, according to Police Inspector Gayatri Sharma.

In this connection, 6 people have been arrested. Action has been taken against those who cheated passengers by giving high fare tickets and mentioning less amount in the challan. Inspector Sharma said that the extra fare collected by 25 microbuses has also been returned.

According to Chief District Officer Aryalya, the drivers and those charging extra fare have been warned, the fare has been returned, fined and taken under control. He informed that action has been initiated under the Black Marketing Act by arresting those who have flouted the bill. The vehicles heading towards Kathmandu via Chitwan were monitored.

SP Puri said that regular monitoring has been started after receiving complaints that transport entrepreneurs were charging exorbitant fare from the people returning to Kathmandu after celebrating Dashain.
