Trading Company Surkhet sells food worth more than Rs 10 million during Dashain

Karnali. The Karnali State-based Food Management and Trade Company Limited Surkhet has sold food items worth more than Rs 10 million during the Dashain festival.

The company, which started selling food items worth Rs 11.3 million in the last two weeks, has been selling food items worth Rs 11.3 million. Earlier, food items worth Rs 100,000 per day were sold at around Rs 100,000 per day, according to Keshav Raj Budha, chief of the Food Management and Trade Company in Karnali Province, Surkhet. According to him, the business has increased ten-fold after the start of selling food items at subsidized rates targeting the Dashain and Tihar festivals.

“The government has allocated 15,500 quintals of rice, 17,000 quintals of sugar and 22,000 litres of oil for Dashain and Tihar. Rich rice rich in iron, zinc, vitamin A, folic acid, vitamin B-12, thiamine, niacin and pyridoxine has been gaining traction lately. ’

The government has emphasized on distributing fortified rice with the objective of reducing malnutrition among the people of Karnali. He said that the government has allocated one hundred thousand quintals of food subsidy quota for the current fiscal year to reach nine districts of Karnali.

According to Shova Regmi, information officer of the trade company, they have sold 835 quintals rice, 131.11 quintals sugar and 18,660 litres oil since September 12. According to the company, the subsidized food distribution service will be provided to the citizens until November 26.
