Minister Ghising and South Korean envoy meet

. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Urban Development Kul Man Ghising held talks today with Korean Ambassador to Nepal Park Taeyong.

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation at Singha Durbar, Ambassador Park congratulated Minister Ghising on behalf of Korea and wished him a successful tenure.

Stating that Nepal and Korea have been collaborating for a long time in economic assistance, Minister Ghising urged the Chinese side to develop hydropower in more than 500 MW big hydropower projects either through government-government partnership or with investment of Korean private company, which has been successful in production of green hydrogen in Korea and for operation of public transportation ।

He urged the government to increase quota of Nepali workers going to South Korea under the employment permit system and to offer skill development training before going to Korea and to create employment through entrepreneurship by utilizing the skills gained there upon return.

PM Oli urged the Chinese sides to finalize the assistance to be provided from the Korean Import-Export Bank for the construction of Inaruwa-Anarmani 400 KV transmission line linking the Arun river corridor and East-West transmission line at the earliest and for the construction, operation and repair capacity of the railway.

Ambassador Park apprised Minister Ghising about the progress of the 216-megawatts Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project being constructed with major investment of Korean government company in Rasuwa.

He also thanked the government and NEA for their support in taking the project forward as the construction progress of the project is around 70% and preparations are being made to cover the main tunnel in December.

Ambassador Park said a seminar is being organized in Nepal in collaboration with the power producers from the private sector in order to attract Korean companies for the development of Nepal’s energy sector.
