Kathmandu. Preparations are underway for the Chhath festival in various places of Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Preparations for the Chhath festival that the Maithili community has started celebrating at Gaurighat in Kathmandu on Friday. Cleaning and decoration work has begun on the banks of the Gaurighat river for the Chhath festival.

The Chhath festival, which is especially celebrated in the Terai, is now being celebrated in the Kathmandu Valley as well. Ghats are designed to decorate the banks of rivers, lakes, mini-lakes, and ponds during this festival. The festival of Chhath is celebrated with banana stems, twinkling lamps, and offering Arghya to the sunset and the auspicious sun.

Anil Singh, chairman of Gaurighat Chhath Development Committee, informed that 610 stalls are being prepared at Gaurighat this time. Each person has to pay Rs 1500 to use the stall. g.
