Kathmandu. Kathmandu: A meeting of the CPN (Maoist Centre) General Convention Organizing Committee has kicked off at the Pragya Bhawan today. Prior to the meeting, a secretariat meeting was held at Pragya Hall. According to NCP leader Haribol Gajurel, the meeting was held to endorse the decision of the party secretariat regarding the merger with 8 parties including the CPN (S).

Tomorrow, the unification will be announced. The decision to unify the party has pushed the Maoists towards split. Leaders including Janardan Sharma, Ram Karki and Sudan Kiranti have announced a separate campaign saying that they cannot stand in favor of the current unity.
