Stock market plunges by double digits, crosses $5 billion

Kathmandu. On Sunday, the first trading day of the week, the stock market fell by double digits. On Tuesday, the NEPSE index decreased by 21.48 points to close at 2,609.69 points. Likewise, the Sensitive Float Index decreased by 2.70 points, while the Float Index decreased by 1.57 points and the Sensitive Float Index decreased by 1.14 points.

Although the stock market fell on Sunday, the volume of transactions increased compared to last week’s last trading Wednesday. Shares worth Rs 5.23 billion were traded in the market on the previous trading day, which was Rs 5.33 billion today.

The index of all 13 sub-groups decreased on Tuesday. Among them, the hydropower sub-group index decreased the most by 1.22 percent. Financial, hotel and tourism, microfinance and business sub-group indices decreased by more than 1 percent on the day.

Shares of three companies were traded at positive circuit levels. Shares of Swastik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha, Srinagar Agritech Industries and Jhapa Energy were traded in positive circuit level today. Similarly, the share price of Menchiam Hydropower has increased by about 5.5 percent today. Shares of Bungal Hydro fell the most by 8.51 percent on the day.

Sagar Distillery is in the highest position today on the basis of transaction amount. Today, the company’s shares worth Rs 43.69 crore were traded on the day. Similarly, the turnover of Ngadi Group Power has crossed Rs 32.5 crore today. Similarly, shares worth Rs 15.5 crore of Bandipur Cable Car and Tourism Company were traded.
