Financial Institution Employees Association demands government to protect banking sector from attack by anarchist group

. KATHMANDU: Nepal Financial Institutions Employees Association has drawn the attention of the relentless attacks on the employees working in banks and financial institutions. According to the association, employees working in the banking sector, which is classified as an essential service by the state, are currently forced to work in a hazardous environment.

The association has urged the government and stakeholders to ensure the complete security of the employees working in banks and financial institutions.TAG_OPEN_div_14 The union has said that due to the recurrence of lawless incidents, the employees are forced to leave the office and come out on the streets with pressure protests.

On December 10, Sumit Shrestha, deputy manager of Jyoti Bikas Bank’s provincial office, and Sabin Shrestha, an employee of Rupani branch, were beaten up by a group of miscreants.TAG_OPEN_div_12 The association has demanded immediate action against such groups and individuals by bringing them to book.

The union has more than 21,000 employees across the country.TAG_OPEN_div_10 The association has been working to protect the professional rights of the employees of the financial sector, maintain transparency, good governance and create a dignified working environment by leading the trade unions of 51 financial institutions.

} The association has strongly urged the government to stop such anarchic and illegal acts and ensure complete security in the banks and financial sector.
