Persa. Birgunj Customs Office has collected Rs 96.38 billion in revenue in the first five months of the current fiscal year.
The office collected Rs 12.01 billion or 14 percent more revenue in the same period of the last fiscal year compared to the previous five months. The office had collected Rs 84.37 billion in revenue in the first five months of the last fiscal year.
Chief Customs Administrator of Birgunj Customs Office, Bishnu Prasad Gyawali, said the revenue collection in the first five months of the current fiscal year was encouraging. “The office had set a target of collecting Rs 21.33 billion revenue in the month of December. However, the office collected 98 per cent of the target or Rs 20.80 billion revenue in the month alone,” he said.
Chief Customs Administrator Gyawali said the highest revenue collection in the first five months of the current fiscal year was recorded in November. The government had collected Rs 18.44 billion in July, Rs 20.73 billion in August and Rs 19.09 billion in September.
Similarly, Rs 17.33 billion was collected in the month of October and Rs 20.80 billion in the month of November. The Department of Customs has set a target of collecting Rs 273.39 billion in revenue for the current fiscal year. So far, 87 per cent of the target has been collected in the first five months of the country.
