Kathmandu. The United States on Saturday night lifted an airspace ban imposed in the Caribbean following its military action against Venezuela. Earlier, commercial flights were temporarily suspended due to the ban.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife have been flown by helicopter to New York City, where they have been charged with drug trafficking and weapons charges.
U.S. special forces captured the Maduro couple in a military operation that included air strikes in and around the capital Caracas early Saturday.
US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said on social media that the initial restrictions ended after 12 midnight and regular flights would be allowed to resume.
According to him, the necessary information has already been given to the airlines concerned and the flight schedule will be updated soon.
Earlier in the day, the US Federal Aviation Agency issued a notice directing people not to use the airspace, citing the risks posed to aviation safety due to military activities in the Caribbean.
