Kathmandu. Mexico has become a “major supplier” of oil to Cuba since the United States imposed sanctions on Venezuela, a traditional supplier to Cuba, President Claudia Sheinbaum has said.
“Mexico clearly remains a major supplier of oil to Cuba, relying on cut-price supplies from its allies to evade U.S. sanctions,” Sheinbaum said.
His country has not sent “more oil than ever before” to Cuba, but Mexico is now a major supplier of oil.
“In 2025, Mexico’s oil exports to Cuba exceeded those of Venezuela,” he said in a report in the Financial Times. Memsico’s comments came after Washington last weekend called for the ouster of Venezuela’s president and a crackdown on the country’s crude exports.
