Kathmandu. Police have arrested four persons on the charge of robbing a branch of Nepal SBI Bank at Hayutar of Ghyunglekh Rural Municipality-2 in Sindhuli district.
According to the police, the robbers had taken the Sumo jeep (0398) from Banepa and its driver Bhawat Singh Thapa under control on Tuesday. The other three were arrested today.
According to sources, preliminary investigations suggest that the arrested persons may be more landlords than the main masterminds of the bank robbery.
Of them, two are from Nuwakot, one from Chitwan and one from Makwanpur. Police have also arrested Bhagat Singh Thapa, driver of the Tata Sumo jeep (0398) used to rob the bank.
A group of 5-6 masked men looted Rs 3,10,95,283 from the bank branch at around 8:40 pm on Tuesday. A group of robbers attacked bank security guard Rudra Bahadur Karki with a khukuri and looted the money.
The police team has recovered Rs 1,80,10,500 from the perpetrators of the incident.
The money was found dumped in a sack in a nearby forest.
