Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) in South Korea has finally come to an end to the organizational confusion and division. The two sides were united during the visit of Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) ICC President Mahesh Kumar Shrestha to South Korea. Chairman Shrestha, who left Japan for the purpose of settling the Korean dispute, had held continuous talks between the two sides.
The two parallel committees on Tuesday signed a memorandum of unification to unite the Nepali community in South Korea by assimilating the mantra ‘Nepali for Nepalis’, Shrestha said.
The working committee led by Parbati Lama elected from the 10th general convention and the working committee led by Bipin Kumar Gurung have agreed to move ahead by accepting each other’s existence.
According to the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) South Korea, the unification process has been initiated with the common objective of utilizing the knowledge, skills and capital of Nepalis living in South Korea for Nepal’s economic and social development. As per the agreement, both sides will accept each other’s leadership and existence and take the organization together and an eight-member steering committee will be formed including 4-4 members including chairperson, senior vice-president and general secretary from both sides to advance the works of organizational unification.
It has also been agreed that chairpersons of both sides will chair the steering committee meeting on rotational basis. As per the agreement, the steering committee will prepare the working procedure in coordination with the NRNA Central Facilitation Committee for the remaining process of unification and other technical procedures.
NRNA ICC President Mahesh Kumar Shrestha, NCC Regional Vice President Junu Gurung, NCC Facilitation and Coordination Committee member Prakash Dhamala and NCC Korea Patron Bhim Gurung were present on the occasion.
It is believed that with the unification, the way has been opened to make the organization philanthropic and creative by clearing the confusion seen among the Non-Resident Nepalis in South Korea. Shrestha said that the central general convention is scheduled to be held on March 13-15 after the merger between the two parallel committees at the center.
