Kathmandu. The European Union (EU) has expressed serious doubts about the ‘Board of Peace’ proposed by the United States.

European Council President Antonio Costa said at a press conference after an emergency summit at midnight on Thursday.

Costa said the EU had serious objections to a number of aspects, including the scope of the Peace Board, its governance structure and its compatibility with the UN Charter.

“The EU is ready to withstand any kind of pressure and will protect the interests of its member states, citizens and businesses,” he said. “The EU has the necessary tools and capabilities, and these will be used when necessary,” Costa said.

EU leaders held an emergency summit in Brussels on Thursday evening to review recent US threats and rhetoric over Greenland and discuss possible next steps.
