Kathmandu. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has made provision that a candidate can open two accounts of the same nature for election purposes.
This provision has been made for the candidates of the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 4.
The central bank has stated that the banks and financial institutions can open the accounts of the candidates at the request of the Election Commission. Such an account will remain in operation until the election is held and the Election Commission decides to close it.
“Point 45 of Directive No. 21 of the Integrated Directive 2082 issued to the banks and financial institutions states that banks and financial institutions cannot open more than one account of the same nature in the name of a natural person.
“This notice has been issued to each political party, candidates representing these parties (including proportional representation) and independent candidates to open a separate bank account on the recommendation of the Provincial Election Office and District Election Offices so that they can conduct income and transaction of the Nepali currency (rupee paisa) of the general election campaign group (or any other similar one).”
