Kathmandu. A complaint has been lodged against Harka Sampang, candidate for the House of Representatives election from Sunsari-1 at the Election Commission (EC). The complaint was filed against Sampang, who is also the chair of the Labour and Culture Party, for using children in election campaigning.

Dharan Municipality Child Network has filed separate complaints against Sampang at the District Police Office and the Office of the Election Officer. According to the network, Section 7 sub-section 9970 of Chapter 2 of the Children Act, 2075 prohibits the use of children directly or indirectly for political purposes.

According to the complaint, the candidates used children in election activities against the provisions of the law. The complainants have called Sampang to the election officer’s office to discuss the matter and take legal action against him for violating the election code of conduct.
