35 cooperatives scrapped in Gandaki: Some more cooperatives in the phase of dismantling, how many in which district?

Baglung. Pokhara—Office of the Cooperative Registrar of Gandaki Province has scrapped 35 cooperatives that were not active in the state.

The organization has scrapped the registration of nine different types of cooperatives on January 26. The office has already scrapped 26 cooperatives. Issuing a public notice on January 24, the Office of the Registrar informed that the registration of cooperatives which had remained inactive for two consecutive years has been scrapped as per Clause 71 sub-section (3) of the Gandaki Province Cooperative Act-2075.

As per the decision of the office on January 22, the registration of nine cooperatives including four from Syangja, four from Parbat and one from Nawalpur has been scrapped. Though the inactive cooperatives were asked to update the cooperatives by issuing a 35-day public notice on June 29, nine of them have been scrapped this time and some are in the process of being scrapped, said Bhesh Raj Rijal, registrar of cooperatives.

Rijal said that preparations are underway to scrap the cooperatives in Baglung that have been dormant for a long time and have not been updated. The process of dissolving the inactive cooperatives will be in the hands of the directors if their liabilities are pending.

KATHMANDU: The Office of the Registrar has so far scrapped 35 cooperatives that were under the jurisdiction of Gandaki Province. Among the cooperatives scrapped, 12 were scrapped, followed by six from Gorkha, five from Parbat, four from Tanahun, three from Kaski, two from Myagdi and one each from Lamjung, Baglung and Nawalpur, said Rijal.

Registrar Rijal said that the process has been initiated to scrap the registration of cooperatives that have not been updated as per the provision of the Gandaki Province Cooperative Act if they are found inactive without doing any business for two consecutive years.

The Office of the Registrar has also informed the concerned officials including the director÷s of the cooperatives and other responsible officials of the cooperatives to pay if there is any obligation to pay. As per the decision of January 22, 2019, the Tapu Bhanjyang Agriculture Cooperatives Limited of Waling Municipality of Syangja, Katauje Ginger Producers Cooperatives Limited of the same municipality, Khadak Black Agriculture Cooperatives Limited of Chapakota Rural Municipality and Sarovar Agriculture Cooperatives Limited of the same municipality have been scrapped.

Similarly, Gahate Pakhara Milk Producers’ Cooperatives Limited, Pragati Coffee Cooperatives Limited, Purneshwar Coffee Cooperatives Limited, Parbat Adarsha Model Agriculture Cooperatives Limited and Ex-Servicemen Cooperatives Limited of Hupsekot Rural Municipality of Nawalparasi (East) have been scrapped.
