Mountains. Minister for Health and Population Dr. Dr Sudha Gautam has stressed on the need for all three tiers of government to invest in the health insurance sector in an effective manner.
Inspecting the State Hospital, Parbat this morning, Minister Gautam said that the provincial government and local levels should also allocate budget as the federal government’s budget alone has insufficient to cover the health insurance programme. She said that many hospitals have been receiving complaints that they have not received the budget for health insurance.
According to him, about one billion rupees has been paid to the Insurance Board from the budget of the Ministry of Health as there was no budget when the demand was made in the Ministry of Finance.
Minister Gautam shared that he had urged the people’s representatives of the state government and local levels in the upcoming state meetings to allocate budget for health insurance as well. Minister Gautam said that the incumbent government was continuously taking initiatives to make health services accessible to all.
Minister Gautam stressed the need of adequate supply of medicines, human resources and equipment in the government health institutions, stressing the need of formulating different policies and plans to ensure basic health facilities to the citizens. She said that some works could not be carried out due to the enforcement of the election code of conduct.
