Import of petroleum products soars to Rs 90 billion in six months

Persa. Petroleum products worth Rs 90.06 billion were imported through Birgunj in the first six months of the current fiscal year. Petroleum products worth Rs 2.75 billion were imported through Birgunj border point in the same period of the last fiscal year. Likewise, Rs 37.85 billion revenue has been collected from the import of petroleum products in the first six months of the current fiscal year.

Udaya Singh Bista, information officer at the Birgunj Customs Office, said the import of petroleum products and revenue from petroleum products has increased in the same period of the last fiscal year. In the first six months of the last fiscal year, revenue of petroleum products amounting to Rs 87.31 billion was collected while import of petroleum products amounted to Rs 36.14 billion.

According to the Customs Office, Rs 19.85 billion revenue was collected from the import of diesel worth Rs 45.38 billion in the first six months of the current fiscal year. Similarly, in the same period, Rs 13.82 billion revenue was collected from the import of petrol amounting to Rs 20.98 billion. Likewise, Rs 2.77 billion revenue was collected from the import of LPG gas amounting to Rs 14.79 billion.
