Kathmandu. CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that preparations were underway to bring an election manifesto incorporating practical and concrete achievements in the next five years.
Holding consultations with experts of various thematic sectors for preparing manifesto in connection with the election to the House of Representatives at the party’s central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur today, Chairman Oli said that the manifesto was prepared by incorporating the practical aspects of the people. According to him, the party has been preparing its manifesto in order to materialize people’s aspirations for prosperity and happiness through the country’s prosperity, good governance and sustainable development.
He stressed that the government should pay attention to create environment conducive for holding the elections in a free, fair and fraud-free manner. Stating that the party has been established as a strong organization, widespread people’s mandate and the most popular party, he said that the UML would provide leadership with high morale to reconstruct the damage done to nationality, democracy and constitution after last August’s devastation.
Stating that nationality, sovereignty, national security and self-respect cannot be safeguarded through dedication, Oli said that there would be resistance, counter and defend this kind of security.
On the occasion, experts said that the manifesto to be prepared by the party should be made in such a way that it directly benefits the people. The CPN-UML has formed a seven-member manifesto drafting committee under the convenorship of Oli. The committee comprises vice-presidents Ram Bahadur Thapa and Bishnu Prasad Poudel, general secretary Shankar Pokharel, Ishwor Pokharel, Pradeep Gyawali and Bishnu Rimal as members.
