Rukum East. Coordinator of the Communist Party of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has urged the locals of Sisne rural municipality of Rukum (East) to transform this area into a model district from the base of revolution.

Speaking at a programme organised at Khupichar, Khara, Bhing, Pokhara, Sisneri and Dhape of Sisne Rural Municipality, he recalled the memories of the people’s war era and said Rukum-Rolpa was his political workplace. “East Rukum is not a new place for me. I came here 41 years ago. Rukum-Rolpa is the base area of the People’s War under my leadership. This is where I led the revolution,” he said.

Describing Rukum East as his next place of work, Prachanda said that he got new energy after coming here. He compared the meeting with the people to victory celebrations. “Somewhere there is a grand procession, somewhere there is a panchebaja. I don’t want to ask for votes, I feel like I’m celebrating the victory,” he said.

He said that the current election is not a regular process but a political competition of a special time. Stating that three trends are competing in the election, he said a referendum would be held between the forces that killed youths during the September 7, the forces inciting arson and destruction on September 24 and the forces standing in favour of good governance, republic and peace.

“The people will decide whether to defeat the trend of not killing people, setting fire and ending corruption, or violence and destruction,” he said. Stating that his party was moving ahead in the national campaign against good governance and corruption, he expressed the belief that the people would ensure victory to positive forces.

He stressed the need for the election to be free and fair and expressed confidence in the Nepal Army and Nepal Police. “This election is important for the country. This election will decide whether to take the country towards disaster or save it,” he said.

Stating that he got new energy after reaching among the people despite physical difficulties, he reiterated his commitment to develop Rukum East as a model district of development.
