Kathmandu.  Dil Sundar Shrestha, who has been active in the business world of Nepal for the last 40 years, is not only a successful businessman but also a person who has been contributing to society, education, literature and business sectors.

In his professional life spanning over four decades, he has moved forward with the motto of ‘contribute to the society and the country in every way’ rather than personal gain. Therefore, he is not limited to the personal level but has been contributing to the development of the country by working directly and indirectly in the social, economic, political, educational and literary fields.

He was born to Krishna Sundar Shrestha and Krishna Pyari Shrestha on 16 Baisakh 2013 in Dhulikhel, Kavrepalanchowk. He received his primary school education from the eastern hill district of Sankhuwasabha, and he is always proud of his birth parents. He says, “The right path shown by my parents has contributed to my success in every step. ”

Shrestha came to Kathmandu for higher education and completed his Bachelor’s degree from Shankar Dev College. Having studied management and due to his diligent personality and passion for business, he decided to put his educational qualifications into practice and join the business sector.

He started his business career from Katari of rural Udayapur and is now a nationally established person by investing in enterprises, banking, textile, overseas import-export and hydropower sectors.

According to him, despite his investment in other business sectors, he has invested in the hydropower sector not only for profit but also for the sake of resources and his own means and the consumers, including the indigenous, skilled manpower, laborers and all the Nepali brothers and brothers.

Under his direct leadership, R.M. He played a leading role in the establishment of Investment Limited. Currently, around 600 MW of hydropower projects are in operation under the group. How many of the projects have started commercial production and how many are in the construction phase?

The group of hydropower projects includes Dhusakhola Hydropower (155 MW), Balefi Hydropower, Bindhabasini Hydropower and Peoples Hydropower Company. Shrestha’s business life has been increased in both the village and the city in a long time. From this, it can be seen that he is working with the aim of contributing to the socio-economic development of both the village and the city. A vivid example of this can be seen in the Araniko Development Bank established under his leadership 20 years ago.

He had kept the central office and branch office of the bank outside Kathmandu. At that time, he had made Kavre and Sindhuli the main areas of work of his bank and contributed to the expansion of financial access and employment generation in the rural areas. The bank has now been merged with Century Commercial Bank as per the policy of Nepal Rastra Bank.

Business principles and lifestyle

Simple, easy-going and humble in nature, Shrestha has never shown arrogance in his professional life or personal life. He maintains cordial relations with everyone in the village and town. His relationship is such that in today’s day, everyone from all over the country to big businessmen comes to him for advice. Some examples of successful businessmen in Solu, Khotang, and Okhaldhunga who became successful businessmen in Solu, Khotang, and Okhaldhunga can be seen even today when he did business in Katari of the eastern hilly district of Udayapur of Nepal.

This continuity of his persistence continues even today, no one who has been in his company and who has done business has failed. He does not treat anyone in small business, he treats them equally, if someone has a problem, he tries to solve it by saying that it is my problem too. He is a businessman who has made his own business a successful businessman, there is a collectivity in his business.

He says, “One should never have arrogance and ostentation in life, it harms oneself.” Due to his simple nature, business acumen and amiability, he has been continuously in leadership because of the trust of businessmen since his business life. As a result of this, today he is busy in the election campaign as a candidate for the district municipality of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI).

His business approach has always been linked to the socio-economic development of the community. He believes that development should be done in coordination between the village and the city.

Due to his business success, leadership skills, and coordination role, he is always in the eyes of the business leadership, and there is a competition to get him in his team. He is known as a selfless businessman. If any businessman asks for help about his or her organization’s problem, he is known to be present at the state level and work easily on any issue. Due to his simplicity, cooperative spirit and ability to convey business to any level and person, he has been the first choice of businessmen of the district.

Even though he is established as a national entrepreneur, he has been leading the district as a leader of the district municipality with the background of establishing himself as a businessman 40 years ago. In the past, he has also come to the leadership of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) as a representative of the district and town.

Social Life, Literary Field, and Journalism

Shrestha has also contributed to social service and literature. In the 40s, he worked as the publisher and editor of the established literary magazine Garima Quarterly, which is still established today. Due to his attachment to literature and journalism, he has played the role of the General Secretary of the Parijat Memorial Foundation, an organization established to keep the contribution of Parijat and to expand the influence of literature in the society.

As a result, he served as the president of Rotary Club Dhulikhel (2007-2008) and is still active with the same sense of service. He is interested in education at the local and national level, he is also known as a lover of education, he has also contributed to the education sector.

He has completed his successful career as the chairman of Ray’s Sanjeevani Campus in Dhulikhel, Kavre. Rati’s passion is still the same. He is requested to take the leadership of any organization in the society. He has been leading the Senior Citizen Service Centre (Old Age Center) since 2059 BS for a long time. He is very sensitive and dedicated towards education and society.
