A total of 92 projects under community responsibility have been completed in the affected areas of the project while eight have come into operation.

Project chief Shyamji Bhandari said that the community development and livelihood rehabilitation programme has been implemented in the affected areas through the users’ committee. According to him, the projects operated through the consumer committee are regularly monitored by the environmental and social management service providers.

According to him, the construction of the access road to the Machdang Tunibot Trail Bridge at Rishing-7, the construction of the Kilchowk branch road at Myagde Rural Municipality-3, the construction of Phedikhola motorable bridge at Bhimad Municipality-5, the Dandiban Chulesi Access Road at Rishing Rural Municipality-7, the construction of four suspension bridges at Chulasi, Tunibote, Blang and Tutuwa over the Seti River linking Rishing Rural Municipality and Myagde Rural Municipality have been completed. Similarly, construction of a cemented bridge over Wantang rivulet, road leading to villages from Byas municipality-5, Patan and improvement of drinking water source and pipe at Rishing rural municipality-1 are in operation.

According to Bhandari, the community has an important role to play in the construction of the project. “We are working to complete the project by collaborating with the community,” he said. ”

According to Bhandari, the headworks including dam under phase 1, main tunnel, powerhouse and related equipment under phase-2 and construction of Damauli-Bharatpur 220 KV transmission line are going on.

The capital structure and financial management of the company has been managed with a total cost of 505 million US dollars (including interest during the construction period) of transmission line, rural electrification and construction period with ADB bearing 150 million, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) 184 million dollars, European Investment Bank 85 million dollars and Nepal Electricity Authority 86 million dollars with coordination of the Government of Nepal.
