Kathmandu. Tehran is preparing a pre-planned, multi-pronged strategy in response to the US-Israeli offensive and has set six conditions for an end to the conflict, a senior Iranian official has said.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the strategy, drawn up months ago, was being implemented with “high strategic patience”. He also said he did not expect a ceasefire to happen anytime soon after Iran attacks its infrastructure, facilities and strategic locations.
Several regional actors and mediators have proposed measures to end the conflict, the official said.
The six conditions Tehran must meet before a deal, including the closure of US bases in the region, reparations to Iran, an end to hostilities on the regional front, a new legal framework for the Strait of Hormuz, and legal action against media and personalities deemed hostile to Iran.
On February 28, Israel and the United States launched a joint attack on Tehran and other Iranian cities, killing Iran’s then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, senior military commanders and civilians. Iran responded with a series of missile and drone attacks targeting US bases and assets in Israel and the Middle East.
