Rs 100 billion revenue collected in 34 days

Kathmandu. The government has collected revenue of more than Rs 100 billion in the first 34 days of the current fiscal year.

According to the Office of Financial Comptroller General, revenue worth Rs 100 billion has been deposited in the government’s coffers in the 34th day of the current fiscal year.

Out of the total revenue of Rs 100 billion, 14.55 per cent was collected as customs duty, 15.46 per cent as excise duty and 22.17 per cent as income tax. Similarly, 34.04 percent revenue was collected from Value Added Tax (VAT) and 13.78 percent revenue was collected from other expenses.

The government has set a target of collecting Rs 1,580 billion in revenue for the fiscal year 2083/84. Swarnim Wagle named it ‘Mission 16 trillion’.

He has also directed the agencies under the Ministry of Finance to work with the objective of achieving the high target of revenue in ‘mission mode’ by stopping revenue leakage.

In the last fiscal year, the government had collected Rs 1.249 trillion. The target for the current fiscal year is 331 billion more than the total collection of the previous year.
