Kathmandu. Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No. 31 Aloknagar has fined a drug manufacturing company Rs 50,000 after finding evidence in the discarded hospital waste. Papers with the names of two companies were found in the dumped garbage. One of these companies has an address in Bhaktapur district and the other has an address in Dhapasi of Tokha Municipality. Since these places do not fall within the geographical area of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, the Metropolitan Police Force has initiated the process of taking action through the District Administration Office Kathmandu and Bhaktapur.

The police had urged the authorities to present the guilty as mentioned in the Garbage Management Act 2068 BS and Kathmandu Metropolis Environment and Natural Resources Conservation Act 2077 BS to the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) office.

Based on this request letter, a fine of Rs 50,000 has been imposed on the company that came in contact through the District Administration Office, Bhaktapur. According to Senior Superintendent of Police Bishnu Prasad Joshi, Chief of the Police Force, the officials of the company brought in through the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, have not come into contact yet.

A joint team of the Environment Management Department of the Metropolitan City and the police force has started keeping a strict vigil on those throwing unauthorized garbage. Those found in this process are fined immediately. Similarly, action has been taken against those who remove garbage haphazardly by looking for evidence in the garbage dumped on the road, sidewalks and public places. Joshi said that the name of the person and organization who was initially taken action will not be made public, but if the same type of crime is repeated, the name and address will be made public.
