Palpa. The death toll in the landslide in Palpa has reached five.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bhimlal Bhattarai of the District Police Office, the dead bodies of 75-year-old Lil Bahadur Gharti Magar, his 17-year-old daughter Dina Gharti and 15-year-old Jharana Gharti of neighbor Motilal Gharti were recovered in the landslide.

The deceased have been identified as Krishna Kumari Saru, 59, of Ribdikot Rural Municipality-6 and Sher Bahadur Chidi, 75, of Rupse Rajauli of Mathagadhi Rural Municipality-2.

Chidi was rushed to Palpa District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The landslide that occurred this morning had completely buried the house of Lil Bahadur Gharti Magar.

They had gone missing when the landslide buried them while they were sleeping at home. The rescue team retrieved the bodies of three people from the landslide with the efforts of security personnel and locals. The bodies of all the five deceased have been kept at the District Hospital, Palpa for postmortem, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhattarai.
