Kathmandu. The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration has formed a committee to study the status of the purchase and use of software and hardware being used in its subordinate bodies.

The ministry has formed a committee to study the actual status of the hardware and software purchased for the management of Nellis, LRMIS and Mero Kotta being used in the Department of Survey and Land Management and Archive.

The committee formed as per the ministry’s decision dated September 7, 2083 has been asked to submit its report within seven days. The committee will study the actual condition, use, quality and utility of the hardware and software purchased.

The other members of the committee are Director of Information Technology at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Devendra Sapkota, Under-Secretary Ram Chandra Regmi, Account Officer Digambar Rijal and Section Officer Lokmani Khanal. Computer engineer Dubesh Shrestha is the member secretary.

The committee has been given the responsibility to study all the details and documents related to the purchase of hardware and software. Similarly, there is a mandate to check whether the procurement process is in accordance with the prevailing standards and to conduct an on-site inspection of the actual condition, use, quality and usefulness of the equipment and software purchased.

Likewise, the committee has been asked to investigate whether there were possible irregularities or misuse of public resources in the procurement process and submit a report with clear suggestions for improvement based on the findings drawn from the study.

The committee’s study is expected to help identify the real situation regarding the digital systems related to land administration and the effectiveness of the equipment procured for them and the utilization of public resources.
