Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: President of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Chandra Prasad Dhakal, has said that billions of rupees deposited in the social security fund should be mobilized in big infrastructure as well as manufacturing sectors. According to him, more than Rs 95 billion has been deposited in the fund at present and the amount has not been properly utilized.
According to him, if there are obstacles in the way of investment, it should be corrected. According to Dhakal, unless the Fund invests in the productive sector, it has no meaning. Dhakal said that the workers in the informal sector are still under the ambit of social security and urged the government to immediately include them.
Addressing a programme organised on the occasion of the Social Security Day here today, Minister Khatiwada stressed that the state should cooperate to bring the labourers working in the informal sector into formal sector. According to Dhakal, the government should provide subsidies to small and medium enterprises and bring the workers working there under the ambit of social security.
Dhakal said, “Nowadays, all the money is kept in fixed or in different bonds. It should increase income by creating jobs and investing in productive sectors with opportunities. The current policy is also an obstacle. This needs to change. ’
According to him, an industrial environment should be created by maintaining good labour relations among the industrial sector and trade union workers. According to Dhakal, the private sector was ready to collaborate with the Fund for the welfare of workers. He said the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) was ready to maintain cordial relations.
