Ranabhat files Rs 30 million money laundering case, appeals Supreme Court against special court’s verdict

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed an appeal at the Supreme Court (SC) challenging the verdict of the Special Court (SC) in connection with the corruption case against Ram Bahadur Ranabhat.

The Special Court has filed an appeal against the verdict of the Special Court on the charge of amassing property by abusing public position and indulging in corruption by the Water Induced Disaster Control Office, Lamahi, Dang.

The CIAA had filed a charge sheet against Ranabhat at the Special Court, Kathmandu seeking a fine of Rs 31,581,066.80 as per Clause 20 (1) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059.

An appeal has been filed at the Supreme Court today after being satisfied with the verdict given by the Special Court on June 12, 2081.
