Contempt of court case filed against 12 people, including Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal

Kathmandu. The Supreme Court (SC) has filed a contempt of court case against 12 persons, including Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal.

A division bench of Justices Abdul Aziz Musalman and Meghraj Pokhrel on Sunday issued an interim order directing the court to file the contempt of court case.

The Supreme Court (SC) had issued an interim order on a writ petition filed by Sharad Ojha÷, the suspended chairman of the Insurance Authority, and asked the government to comply with it.

On November 23, the Supreme Court had ordered the government to ÷comply with the interim order issued by the Supreme Court on September 9 in the name of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

Ojha had reached the NRA on September 15 with the Supreme Court’s order. The next day, the ministry had sent a letter to Ojha asking him not to work in the capacity of ÷chairperson.

The apex court on Tuesday issued an interim order against Finance Minister Rameshwor Prasad Khanal, former chief secretary Ek Narayan Aryal, then Revenue Secretary Dinesh Ghimire, Finance Secretary Ghanashyam Upadhyay, Finance Ministry Financial Management and Corporation Coordination Division Chief Mahesh Acharya, Finance Management and Corporation Coordination Division Chief Sewantak Pokharel and Insurance Authority Chairman Janak Sharma.
