Kathmandu. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development Minister Kulman Ghising on Sunday inspected the under-construction specialised children’s hospital under the leadership of senior cardiologist Dr Bhagawan Koirala.

Minister Ghising on Tuesday inspected a 200-bed well-equipped children’s hospital being constructed by Kathmandu Institute of Child Health (KIOCH) at Hepali Height, Budhanilkantha Municipality-7.

On Monday, Minister Ghising also inspected the Children’s Hospital being operated in Damak, Jhapa. The construction of the main building of the hospital is in the final stage. On the occasion, Minister Ghising discussed with the chairperson of the hospital Dr Koirala about the construction of the hospital building, various structures and the progress of its construction.

The government had leased around 41 ropanis of land for the construction of the hospital. The federal government has decided to provide Rs 110 million and the Bagmati Province government Rs 10 million for the construction of building and purchase equipment.

Dr. On the occasion, Minister Ghising appreciated the establishment of a well-equipped children’s hospital at the initiative of Dr. Kairala and assured that the government would provide necessary support for the construction of the hospital.

“We inspected the Children’s Hospital in Damak and found that the hospital has provided a big service to that area. ’

Stating that the Children’s Hospital has been constructed with modern equipment so that all Nepalis can have access to it, Dr KC said. Koirala said that the hospital would be non-profit-oriented, focused on social service and the weaker sections would also get quality treatment.

He said efforts were underway to establish a hospital in Karnali State where child mortality rate is high. Dr. Koirala announced to establish children’s hospitals in seven provinces.
