Overhead bridges to be constructed at three places along Janakpur-Dhalkebar road at a cost of Rs 105 million

According to the Road Division Office, the project has been initiated to control the excessive number of pedestrians, problems in traffic management and accidents.

According to the office, all the three bridges are being constructed at a cost of around Rs 10.5 crore by selecting the most busy and risky places along the road. Ujjwal Jha of the office said bridges are being constructed at Laxminiya Bazaar, the main market area of Laxminiya Rural Municipality, Women Development Chowk and Sakhuwa Chowk of Mahendranagar Bazaar of Chhireshwornath Municipality.

“We have been constructing necessary infrastructures including the construction of pillars in all three places since a month”, he added. Work is underway to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe. ”

According to Jha, the bridges are being constructed at Laxminiya bazaar at the cost of Rs 34.2 million, Mahendranagar bazaar’s Mahila Bikash Chowk at Rs 33.5 million and Sakhuwa Chowk at Rs 34.5 million. The bridges will be 5.6 meters high, 29.4 meters long and 3 meters wide.

Chief of District Traffic Police Office, Police Inspector Surya Bahadur Shahi said the construction of overhead bridge would ease traffic management along the Janakpur-Dhalkebar road section. According to him, the risk of road accidents is high as thousands of pedestrians and vehicles ply here every day.

Chairman of the Chhireshwornath Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Suresh Yadav, said the construction of the bridge would help reduce road accidents as there is a large number of religious tourists and locals visiting Janakpurdham. Rohit Raj Khanal, a local, said that the construction of overhead bridge will help in traffic management and beautification of the city along the Janakpur-Dhalkebar road section. The Road Division Office has set a target to complete the bridge within the current fiscal year.
