Rautahat. The East-West Highway has been obstructed at Chandranigahapur of Rautahat since Saturday afternoon. Relatives of the deceased who met with a road accident near Mothiahi bridge along the Chandranigahapur-Gaur road section on Friday had blocked the highway on Saturday.
Nagendra Patel, 40, of Bishrampur in Brindaban municipality-2 died when a bus (Na 4 Kha 6547) en route to Chandranigahapur from Gaur collided with a motorcycle (Na 39 Pa 4240) coming from the opposite direction on Friday.
The family members of the deceased had blocked the highway after the owner of the bus refused to pay more than the prescribed amount. Former mayor of Brindaban municipality, Ram Snehi Raya, said that they have requested the government to add a small amount as the condition of the victims’ families is weak.
Police have arrested the bus driver Amrit Bahadur BK. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rupa Labung of Area Police Office, Chandranigahapur, said that the highway has been opened. Hundreds of vehicles were stranded due to the obstruction.
Patel’s two sons and a daughter were riding the motorcycle. According to the police, 12-year-old Yuvraj, the son of the deceased who was riding the motorcycle, sustained injuries on the forehead and 11-year-old daughter Aakriti. Patel’s 15-year-old son, Prince Kumar, sustained injuries to his leg, hand and forehead.
