Minister Ghising directs to expedite construction of Muglin-Pokhara road

Damauli. Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Kulman Ghising has directed the authorities concerned to complete the construction of the Muglin-Pokhara road at the earliest.

Inspecting the western section of the road section from Jamune to Pokhara today, Minister Bhattarai directed the contractors to complete the project within the stipulated time.

On the occasion, Minister Ghising inquired about the progress made so far from Jamune to Pokhara of the western section and expressed commitment to provide support to resolve the problem. In the western section, physical progress is 59.76 per cent and financial progress is 47.80 per cent.

According to Project Chief Krishna Bahadur Kunwar, the first phase of blacktopping has been completed on 37.4 kilometres stretch of the 48.88-km stretch. Of those, 29. Four-lane blacktopping was completed on 61 km and two-lane on 7.79 km.

Out of 12 bridges in the section, 11 have been completed while bridges over Seti River are under construction. He further informed that 23.0 km of the road was blacktopped in the last fiscal year against the target to upgrade 25 km of the road to four lanes. According to him, 11 bridges were targeted to be constructed and all 11 have been completed as per the target.

According to the project office, 66 culverts were planned to be constructed and 45.2 kilometres of the 51.5-kilometre drain were completed. An agreement with the contractor was signed on May 17, 2021 at a cost of Rs 7.40 billion, targeting to complete the project by December 16.
