Bhaktapur. Chief Minister of Bagmati Province Kiran Thapa Magar has said that the provincial government has given first priority to the rehabilitation of the flood victims and infrastructure development to restore them to their old condition by rebuilding them in the affected areas.

At a discussion organised by Bhaktapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry with industrialists, cargo entrepreneurs, exporters and other stakeholders, he said the rehabilitation and reconstruction would be forwarded through coordination and collaboration among the federal government, state government, local level and private sector.

He said that the Bagmati Province government had reached the affected areas and distributed relief including food along with rescue operations in the initial phase and now it is engaged in rehabilitation and reconstruction. Stating that the state cannot carry out all works in the flood-affected areas only if it wants it alone, he said that discussions are being held with various organizations, including the private sector, for cooperation.

On the occasion, a letter was handed over to Chief Minister Thapa on behalf of the Association along with 13-point demands and suggestions for the district’s modern and commercial agriculture, sustainable tourism, export-oriented handicrafts, industrial and commercial development.
