KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balendra Shah held a special meeting with his Malaysian counterpart Anwar Ibrahim today.

He held a telephonic conversation with Malaysian Prime Minister Ibrahim this morning.

During the discussion, Prime Minister Shah stressed on the need to make foreign employment between Nepal and Malaysia dignified, transparent and exploitation-free. He made it clear to his Malaysian counterpart that he and his government do not like the practice of syndicate and middlemen in the employment sector of Malaysia.

He made it clear that such impractical and unjust tendencies would not be acceptable and stressed the need for joint efforts for a permanent solution to this problem.

“We do not like syndicates and middlemen and it is not acceptable under any circumstances. It has hit the workers,” the Prime Minister told his Malaysian counterpart, “So I urge your Labour Minister to sit in direct talks with our Labour Minister and take necessary steps to remove this problem once and for all.” ”

Taking the views expressed by Prime Minister Shah positively, Malaysian Prime Minister Ibrahim also made it clear that he was against the syndicate and middlemen. He also expressed his commitment to direct his Labor Minister to coordinate with the Labor Minister of Nepal to start the work on this issue.

Malaysian Prime Minister Ibrahim said, “I am also completely against this wrong and exploitative practice. I immediately instruct our Labour Minister to discuss this matter with the Nepali counterpart and find a concrete solution.” ”
