CNI and NIFRA sign MoU for construction and operation of industrial zone

Let’s go to Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and Nepal Infrastructure Bank (NIFRA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the construction and operation of industrial zones. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed to construct and operate the industrial zone announced by the Government of Nepal under the public-private partnership model.

In the presence of General Manager of Industrial Area Management Limited E. Padam Oli, Director General of CNI Dr. Ghanashyam Ojha and Surya Bahadur Tamang, Assistant CEO of NIFRA, signed the MoU on behalf of NIFRA. As per the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two institutions, the government has given priority to the construction and operation of Shaktikhor Industrial Zone in Chitwan under the public-private partnership concept.

Similarly, a memorandum of understanding has been signed between CNI and NIFRA for the construction and operation of industrial estates in Mayurdhap of Hetauda and Motipur of Rupandehi. As per the government’s announcement to allow the construction and operation of industrial zones under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, CNI has signed an agreement with NIFRA for the construction of industrial zones.

Along with this MoU, the government of Nepal will be requested to jointly allow the private sector to build and operate industrial zones under the public-private partnership concept. On the occasion, CNI President Birendra Raj Pandey said that an agreement has been signed with NIFRA for the construction and operation of the industrial zone. He said that the MoU between CNI and NIFRA is very important.

NIFRA Chief Executive Officer Krishna Bahadur Adhikari said that NIFRA has taken this MoU with CNI as a starting point for the construction of the industrial zone. He added that public-private partnership concept could be taken forward in collaboration with CNI.

General Manager of Industrial Area Management Limited Er. Padam Oli said that the agreement has given a good message as the government has decided to allow the private sector to build and operate industrial zones under the PPP model.
