Mechi Customs Office imports Rs 20.14 billion in five months, 7.57 percent more than last year

Jhapa. Nepal has imported goods worth Rs 20.14 billion from Kakarvitta in the current fiscal year 2082/83 BS.

Information Officer and Customs Officer at the Mechi Customs Office, Ishwor Kumar Humagain, said that this was 7.57 per cent more than the same period of the last fiscal year. Nepal had imported goods worth Rs 18.72 billion in the first five months of the last fiscal year.

In the first five months of the current fiscal year 2082/83, exports through this border point have decreased. During the period, goods worth Rs 10.71 billion were exported to different countries. In the same period of the last fiscal year, goods worth Rs 11.47 billion were exported. Exports through this border point decreased by 6.65 percent.

The main commodities exported from the eastern border include cardamom, tea, plywood, venioer sheet, chhurpi, amriso, ginger, dry ly, lentils and iron sheets, among others.

According to the statistics of the office, Rs 6.82 billion revenue has been collected from import and export till mid-December of the current fiscal year 2082/83.
