Contracts should be terminated to end the tendency of awarding contracts in small amounts, not completing works on time, causing pain to the citizens: Minister Ghising

Kathmandu. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development Kulman Ghising has said that the government has not completed the work for many years.

Addressing a programme organized on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of the Road Board Nepal in the capital on Tuesday, Minister Ghising said that the contract was terminated to end the hardships of the people due to delay in the construction works and to give a message that action would be taken if the works were not completed on time.

The Department of Roads has so far terminated 40 sick contracts. Stating that no contract has been annulled in a planned manner, Minister Ghising said that contractors were encouraged to complete the contracts on time.

He stressed on enhancing the capacity and capacity of the contractors as the development budget is spent by the contractors, saying they have a big contribution to the country’s development.

He said that the federal, provincial and local governments are constructing and repairing roads, so the general public does not know who has the jurisdiction over which road. He also directed to carry out regular maintenance and maintenance of the road.

The Board has stated that it will expand the concept of financial management by collecting fees from the consumers in line with the principle of ‘service fee for the management of maintenance and maintenance of road infrastructure’.
