. Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Hitendra Dev Shakya said the NEA’s attention will be focused on quality electricity.
He said this while inspecting various distribution centers and sub-stations in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces as part of a campaign to felicitate the best customers of the provincial office. Participating in both the programs organized in Surkhet of Karnali and Dhangadhi of Sudurpaschim Province, Shakya said that NEA’s attention will now be focused on quality electricity service. “In the old days, there was load-shedding. At that time, there was a need to provide electricity by any means, now it is not enough to provide electricity,” he said in a program in Dhangadhi. The quality is that there is no power outage. Electricity has to be reliable. ’
He said that the NEA should not only contribute to the budget of NEA by consuming the highest electricity but also contribute to the national economy through the use of electricity. “Industrialists use electricity as a raw material. By using that electricity, you can add four to five times more than that,” he said. We are not only fulfilling our responsibility while honoring them as they are important for their contribution to the country’s economy. We have launched this campaign as a thank you for contributing to the economy and also providing employment opportunities. ’
He said that quality electricity is the need of all consumers and it is even more necessary for the industrialists. “Once the generators are shut down for some time, they either have to run the generators or their production will be wasted,” he said, “Therefore, continuity of electricity is important for the industrialists.” For this, the voltage of electricity has to be of good quality. ’
He said that he had held talks with the chiefs of all the distribution centers and said that they have moved ahead with the license for the construction of Attariya-Dhangadhi transmission line to make the electricity of the far-western region reliable, better and quality. “It’s good for this area. “We are hopeful that the quality of electricity in this place will be good as many other projects are coming up in the far-western region,” he said, adding, “We will soon be in a position to provide as big industries as we can with the demand of the industries.” ’
Urging the consumers to increase the consumption of electricity, he said that this would increase the income of NEA and also contribute to the economy.
He also visited the Kolpur-Surkhet-Dailekh 132 KV Transmission Line Project and Distribution and Customer Service Directorate of Karnali Province. He directed the concerned authorities concerned to move ahead by preparing a schedule to address the problems surfaced in the mountainous and hilly districts.
Shakya, who had reached Karnali from Kathmandu along with Deputy Executive Director of the NRA, Dirghayu Kumar Shrestha, had inspected the land along with Chief of the NRA’s Karnali Province Office Sashibhushan Shah.
After Karnali, Shakle visited the NEA’s Engineering Service Directorate at Lamkichuha, Concrete Pole Plant, Attariya Substation, Sudurpaschim Provincial Office and Dhangadhi Distribution Center along with Manoj Kumar Yadav, chief of the Far-Western Provincial Office.
Shakya said that the campaign of honoring his best customers, listening to the complaints of the stakeholders for reliable power supply, taking information about technical problems and identifying problems has been started from Koshi Province.
