Lalitpur. Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) has completed preparations for the launch of its indigenously developed satellite named ‘Munal’. The development of the satellite, led by higher secondary students, is regarded as a historic achievement in Nepal’s space technology development.
The Munal satellite, developed in Nepal’s first space system laboratory in two years, will be used for vegetation monitoring, indigenous technology testing and artificial intelligence-based data processing.
Secretary at Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) Dr Rabindra Prasad Dhakal said that the satellite would be operated from the ground station at Khumaltar of Lalitpur.
The launch of the Munal satellite ‘SLV-62’ from ISRO as a rideshare payload is scheduled to take place at 10:17 am (Indian time) i.e. 10:32 am (Nepal time). The launch would take place from the Satish Dhawan Space Center at Sriharikota, India.
