Mountains. Repair of Parbat section of Pushpalal Mid-Hill Highway has begun.
Passengers and drivers have been inconvenienced when the main road linking Pokhara, the capital of Gandaki Province, has been damaged.
According to the Road Division Office, Pokhara, the repair and blacktopping of the road has started from New Bridge to Maldhunga of Parbat.
Sub-engineer Lokesh Poudel said that in the first phase, the work of filling the potholes and blacktopping of the damaged road from the foothills of Pokhara has been completed and in the second phase, maintenance work has been started on the Parbat section.
According to him, repair and blacktopping are being carried out at necessary places where it is difficult to operate transport due to the broken roads and potholes in many places during the rainy season.
Repair of Parbat and Kaski sections has been started with the budget of Rs 50 lakh allocated for the maintenance of the highway. Sub-engineer Poudel said that the road maintenance work is being carried out through Shivalaya Construction Service. Although there was a plan to repair the road after the end of the rainy season, the repair work has been delayed due to big festivals and the recent rainfall. Poudel said that the work is going on in full swing now even though it is in winter.
Sub-Engineer Poudel said that the budget allocated for the maintenance of the road will be insufficient due to the deterioration of the road in many places. The problem of potholes is more common on the road along the Parbat section. Passengers and drivers had been complaining for a long time that the condition of the road was not possible to operate smoothly and smoothly. The road has collapsed in some places and there are big potholes in some places.
The risk of accidents increased as the main roads with heavy traffic were damaged. Hundreds of vehicles from Parbat, Baglung, Myagdi, Mustang, Rukum (East) among other districts have been plying through Pokhara, Kathmandu, Narayangadh and other districts on a daily basis.
According to the office, the bridge has been repaired and reached up to Paradhi of Kushma municipality-8. According to the office, the repair work up to Maldhunga will be completed within a month. Drivers said that the problem of dust and mud in the areas that have been repaired has been resolved. The Parbat section of the highway which was constructed in the fiscal year 2078÷79 BS has collapsed within two years.
