Kathmandu. In recent times, the high command of Nepal Police has shown interest in the banking sector after the anarchic groups started dominating the banking sector.

With the rise in criminal activities in the banking sector, even the top police officers have shown a lot of interest in how to reduce it.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Bahadur Karki expressed his concern over such issues at a programme attended by the Governor and Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) and other senior officials of the banks this morning.

It is said that Karki has shown a lot of interest in the incidents that have taken place in the banking sector in recent times.

“There has been an increase in the harassment of employees in the banking sector and misbehaving with the employees who have gone to recover loans. This disrupts the cycle of the financial system. The NRB has informed the senior police officials about this matter very seriously,” said Guru Poudel, spokesperson of the Rastra Bank. He also informed that it has been taken sensitively and action has been initiated in some cases. ’

He said that the police have been urged to be alert as such incidents are possible at that time as the election is approaching. Poudel said that they have urged the government to take action against the recent incidents.

During the discussion, it was later discussed that the behavior of the banks and financial institutions should be responsible towards the borrowers during the time of recovery. Discussions were also held on the issue of taking the help of the local government in case of problems in loan recovery and going for loan recovery by informing the police in advance.

According to Poudel, the meeting discussed ways to move ahead by coordinating with Nepal Rastra Bank, Nepal Police administration and bankers.

Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Bam Bahadur Mishra, Neelam Dhungana, chiefs of various departments, chiefs of Nepal Police and other high-ranking officials were present on the occasion.
