Kathmandu. Ganesh Karki, president of the Independent Power Producers’ Association of Nepal (IPPAN), said that the government is committed to the development

of the energy sector.

He said that the private sector has invested Rs 13.10 trillion. He said this on the occasion of the 26th foundation day of IPPAN.

He complained that the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has not purchased electricity on time as investment in the energy sector is increasing.

According to him, NEA has not purchased electricity and it has been difficult to sell electricity due to lack of transmission line.

According to him, more than 80 projects have been able to generate electricity on time due to weather conditions.

Chairman Karki complained that the government has not listened to the RCOD even though it has been 3 years since the RCOD deadline has been extended.

On the occasion, Karki said that SEBON has approved IPO for only 17 projects in a year.

A total of 37 projects are still in the pipeline.
