Kathmandu. A new building with modern facilities is to be constructed on the premises of Bhaktapur Hospital with the support of Bagmati State government. After 121 years of the establishment of the Bhaktapur Hospital, the new building is going to be constructed at a cost of Rs 620 million from the state government.
Bagmati Province Health Minister Kiran Thapa said the construction of the new building of the hospital would provide relief to the people of three districts of Kathmandu Valley and Kavrepalanchowk and the eastern part of the country.
Health Minister Thapa said, “The construction of building of Bhaktapur Hospital, which is in priority of the Bagmati state government, has been confirmed. We have also endorsed the detailed project report (DPR) with the objective of developing Bhaktapur Hospital as a model hospital of Bagmati State. ”
The new building of the hospital would be constructed in the old and traditional style of Bhaktapur in accordance with the international standards in an ecological, technology-friendly and earthquake-resilient model, he added. Stating that a waiting area, disabled-friendly structures, lift, parking and green space would be made in the new building for the convenience of the patients and service recipients, he said, adding that along with the construction of the new building, specialist services related to heart and neuro would also be expanded at the hospital.
Likewise, Minister for Culture and Tourism of Bagmati Province Suresh Shrestha said the building of Bhaktapur Hospital based in Bagmati state is going to be upgraded as it is old. He made it clear that there would be no compromise on transparency, quality and accountability in building construction process.
Secretary at the Bagmati Province Health Ministry, Dr Sumitra Gautam shared that the new building will have well-equipped ICU and NICU wards, obstetrics and gynecology departments, surgery block, modern laboratory, digital X-ray, CT scan, MRI, heart and neuro services.
Health Secretary Dr Gautam said, “The construction work will be forwarded in a phased manner as per the DPR of the hospital. The local people’s representatives, hospital management committee and health workers have taken this plan as a historic achievement and with the construction of the new building, Bhaktapur Hospital will be established as the main referral hospital of the province. ”
Hospital Executive Director Dr Surendra Bhatta said that discussions were held with high-level officials of Bagmati Province including ministers and secretaries on architectural design, outline of service expansion, cost management, construction process and timeline.
