Banke. The construction of a four-lane bridge at Pedari Nala of Khajura rural municipality-3 along the Nepalgunj-Gulariya Postal Highway is in the final stage.

According to Leela Bahadur Bhandari, project chief of Postal Highway Directorate’s Planning Office, Nepalgunj, the bridge will be completed before the deadline.

He said, “The long-standing hardship of Khajura folks will end soon. The Directorate of Postal Highways has been regularly monitoring the work site to ensure that the quality is not compromised in the name of speeding up the work. The bridge is believed to be the lifeline of the Nepalgunj-Gulariya road section, which will make the commuting to Banke and Bardiya easier and safer.

The bridge will be 22 meters wide and 34.4 meters long. A two-hundred-meter approach road will also be constructed on both sides of the bridge. A contract agreement was signed with Narayanam Construction Service for Rs 89.6 million including VAT to complete the project by May 3, 2083.

Chairperson of Khajura rural municipality, Dambar BK, said that the sustained efforts of the people of Khajura made this progress possible. ”

According to him, not only the locals of Khajura but also the commuters are happy with the speed of the bridge construction. The problem of obstruction of vehicular movement for hours due to blockage of drains and water coming on the road during the rainy season will now become a thing of the past.

Though there is a four-lane road in Khajura, the flood was constructed many years ago due to the dilapidated and narrow bridge, affecting the vehicular movement even during the rainy season.
